Romeo Lemay 1924 - 2013

He was a beloved member of the Safety Harbor community. His stories documented his life as a young man in Ottawa and were told with love, compassion and humor.

To honor his memory, an annual contest has been created by Romeo's son, Tim, along with the Safety Harbor Writers & Poets.

The winners of the 2017 contest are:

1st place, prose: Sydney Watson for Death of a Cow.

2nd place, prose: Lyla Faircloth Ellzey for Discovering Fungi Jewels on the Forest Floor.

honorable mention, prose: Heather von Bargen for To Norway for Grandpa.

1st place, poetry: Karen Koven for The Day Before Spring in Chicago

2nd place, poetry: Janet Watson for Their Bedroom Closet

honorable mention, poetry: Jeff Jeter for Discovery

Our cover photo coverart winner is Patricia Blauvelt.

Winners will be published in Odet in February, 2018. We will announce the theme of our 2018 Romeo Lemay contest at that time as well.
