Writers & Poets Peer Review Group

Every first Wednesday of the month writers & poets meet at SHAMc (706 2nd St. N. Safety Harbor) from 6:30 p.m. to whenever we finish. Bring one project (ie: one poem, one chapter, one essay, one short story) of no more than 2000 words, double-spaced, 12-point font, and the group will help you make it shine.

Please come prepared, as there are no copy machines or staplers available at SHAMc.


InPrompt2 and Open Mic

InPrompt2 is a night of fun! This new endeavor happens every second Wednesday of the month and will feature all members of the community who participate in writing to the monthly prompt. Keep your reading to under 7 minutes and all submissions must fit the theme. Prizes will be awarded! April's prompt is THE NIGHT BEFORE. The cost of admission is $2 at the door. Read more about it. 

Our open mic night, SHAMc Alive, hosted by the talented Ed Derkevics, happens every fourth Wednesday of the month from 7 to after 9 p.m. Sign ups start at 6:30 at SHAMc, 706 2nd St. N. in Safety Harbor.

Original poetry, prose, music, and more is welcome. Please remember to keep the night fun & enjoyable for all. You get five minutes to share your talents. Beer, wine, water and soda are available for purchase and proceeds benefit the center.

Creative Writing Workshops

Every third Wednesday you can take part in a creative writing class. Different subjects will be available each month for a reasonable fee.Our next Creative Writing Class on March 21, 2018 from 7 to 9 p.m. will focus on starting a blog.

You’ll learn about available free blogging sites, how to format your blog, how to connect with readers and how to gain followers. You probably have a lot of questions: What should a blog contain? How long should it be? How can I make my blog something my readers will engage in?

Minimum donation of $15. Pre-registration required.
